Consciousness is understood as a fundamental aspect of reality that transcends physical existence and is not merely a product of brain-based processes. It encompasses awareness, perception, and the interconnectedness of all things, serving as the underlying framework from which all experiences arise. This perspective suggests that consciousness influences the material world and shapes our understanding of reality, emphasizing its role as a central element in existence rather than a by-product of physical processes.
– the definition I use
Years ago, while preparing for a workshop at the art academy in Tallinn, I reflected on why I experienced periods of great creative and innovative expressions interspersed with periods of dull ideas. The realization came to me that my creative phases coincided with feeling happy and satisfied, whereas my dull phases more or less correlated with feeling down. This observation led to profound research on where happiness comes from and how it relates to creativity.
In my extensive research, covering contemporary psychology, neuroscience, and biology, I gradually reached a fringe perspective. It made me realize that my thoughts and experiences weren’t just expressions of local or physical processes; there was something else at play. The breakthrough came when I became familiar with the works of the physicist Thomas Campbell. His logical explanations of Consciousness as the fundamental fabric of this reality gave me the verifiable answers I had been looking for—a framework I later expanded on in The Consciousness Cookbook: Authenticity in a Simulated Reality.
Even though I do read, this reading is very selective and more often than not, comes after I have done deep thinking myself first. As such, I am guilty of misusing the word research as is commonly understood. The thoughts I get are often a result of active imagination, periods of deep contemplation, and spontaneously saying something during a passionate conversation. I do find it very beneficial to find similar ideas in the works of others, as this helps me to communicate my thoughts—and ultimately, this journey of connecting dots between personal insights and universal truths inspired the writing of my book, which offers readers a structured way to explore these ideas at their own pace.
Using the theories
The deep connection between my life experiences and a workshop on Controlled Remote Viewing sparked my drive to create a description of the workings of this world. Many of my profound experiences, like visions of great ideas, stem from a non-local plane: Consciousness. I have been giving workshops and lectures on design and creativity already for two decades. Inspired by my new insights, I began transitioning from these topics and gradually integrated Consciousness, Creativity, and Authenticity as my core themes —themes that form the backbone of The Consciousness Cookbook.
After conducting quite a few workshops, lectures, and private counselling sessions focused on these new areas, I decided it was time to put my unique perspective into a cohesive structure. This way, I am better equipped to share this with others if needed. In the book, I delve into how aligning with the Soul’s intentions, overcoming societal masks, and leveraging tools like self-reflection can empower individuals to navigate life’s challenges—a synthesis of years of experimentation and collaboration with workshop participants.
The premise of my world-view and structure is about understanding how reality works, recognizing the (perceived) forces at play, and realizing your role helps you achieve life goals more successfully. This revelation has inspired my journey to conduct research on Consciousness. I aim to empower individuals for a better life by comprehending the mechanics of the reality we live in, understanding the forces at play (as detailed in Chapter 3 of my book), and recognizing the role we play in this intricate web. This, in turn, enables us to more successfully achieve our life’s goals.
Practical Applications to Better Your Life
However, this thinking goes beyond mere ideas; it serves as a practical guide for those open to new perspectives yet still inclined to contemplate deeply. In The Consciousness Cookbook, I provide tools like meditation, journaling, and remote viewing—methods designed to help readers connect with the Larger Consciousness System and measure their progress toward authenticity.
I delve into various techniques to quiet your mind, fostering a state of receptivity to fresh ideas and insights. I explore the use of binaural beats, a form of sound-based meditation, among other methods like immersing yourself in favourite music or dancing freely. These activities help silence the constant mental chatter and facilitate the seamless exchange of information between your mind and Consciousness—practices I’ve refined over years of workshops and expanded on in the book’s final chapters.
I apply my research findings both in my work practices and as themes for my paintings. For example, I listen to binaural beats or beautiful music while painting or reading. This integration creates a feedback loop where ideas from writers, philosophers, and scientists are expressed in a series of themed paintings. Observing these expressions then inspires new ideas to study.
By trying out these techniques—many of which are elaborated in The Consciousness Cookbook alongside personal anecdotes and structured exercises—you can start to see how they might change your view of the world and your place in it. This research is designed to give you the tools to explore these ideas and see how they might work for you in your life.
